Romantic Coastal Elopement

Romantic Coastal Elopement.

There is so much splendor in this romantic coastal elopement styled shoot from Cannon Beach, Ore., that it’s hard to know where to start. From the creative floral direction to the marbled wedding cake, there is a wealth of inspiration from which to borrow. The creative direction included a whimsical, springtime feel. The watercolor washed calligraphy suite is the perfect starting point for this beachside affair. The collection echoes the location and complements the shoot’s color palette of blush, cream, gray, and emerald.

The bride’s gown is a dreamy creation that features a long sleeve lace top and hand-dyed sea foam green tulle skirt.

The photographer’s goal was to bring together the Earth, rain, and wind elements – which they did in many ways through various artistic touches and accents, such as the bride’s flowing hair dancing in the breeze.

The bridal bouquet offers a hearty collection of blooms like off-white roses, burgundy scabiosa, and snapdragons, as well as organic elements like ferns and fresh citrus.

A reception table is set right near the water’s edge. The natural wooden table is paired with matching chairs in a dark stain finish that is moody and classic. A brief blue pop of color from the table runner and goblets echoes the ocean water.

The tablescape includes a gorgeous centerpiece filled with florals similar to the bride’s bouquet, as well as gold-rimmed china and gold flatware to mirror Cannon Beach’s golden sand.

Only a marbled wedding cake, with its graceful swoops and swirls, can capture the majestic beauty of a beach elopement so effortlessly.

Even with rain and wind enveloping her, the bride looks peaceful as she looks onward towards the ocean, standing mystified by her surroundings.

A custom-designed diamond ring and diamond wedding band fit beautifully in a gray velvet ring box.

Next to a nearly washed-out tied pool, the groom joins his bride on the beach, wearing a gray vest and pants, brown shoes and a white button down shirt.

They’re simply all smiles as the cold wind cuts through them, holding on tight to one another as the gray skies continue to tower above.

Even with a rainy, stormy forecast, one can’t help but find the beauty in this natural setting. The wind only means you pull in closer, the rain means you find shelter together, and the wet Earth under foot means you dig your heels in and face whatever comes next. Springtime looks different everywhere you go – and in Oregon, it can be a brooding, yet beautiful beginning.
