Monet Wedding Inspiration

Monet Wedding Inspiration.

We have all been a witness to a perfect summer sunset; one that paints the sky beautiful shades of pink, peach and subtle hints of purple before fading to a cobalt blue night sky. Sunsets like this are nature’s masterpiece, reminiscent of a well-crafted painting where colors and brush strokes blend to compose a setting elegantly refined yet truly majestic. In the words of the great artist Claude Monet, “My wish is to stay like this, living quietly in this corner of nature.”

This feeling of majesty and reverence for nature’s beauty served as the inspiration for a painterly photoshoot to inspire and delight lovers of fine art and nature.  The Frick Art Museum of Pittsburgh was the perfect backdrop for our photoshoot, a picturesque setting on 5.5 beautiful acres at the edge of the rolling hills of Frick Park.  This iconic and historical landmark museum was recently home to a collection of Impressionist masterpieces by Monet, who famously depicted the characteristics and colors of light at various times of day in natural settings like his beautiful gardens.

Taking cues from nature and using Monet’s depiction of sunset as our color palette, our vision for this photoshoot was simple: create a blank canvas using classic and refined pieces to let the beauty of the florals be the focal point.  We paired French china in crisp white against the rustic farm tables to provide a simple backdrop, allowing the florals to take on the feeling of a Monet painting with strokes of pink and peach dotted with purples and green take on an almost watercolor-like quality.  The head table is accented

The color palette and artistic inspiration are woven throughout the shoot, hand-painted mini cakes at each place setting and a stunning three tier cake with the same hand-painted watercolor base and hand crafted sugar flower topper.

The bride wore a delicate gown in classic silhouette with subtle floral embellishments, accented with a simple full length tulle veil and a hand crafted gold crown with floral accents echoing the warmth and beauty of the sunsets fleeting golden rays.

Our ceremony takes place on the front steps of the museum, pairing classic architecture with an asymmetrical floral arch mixing modern floral trends with classic backdrop at sunset, bringing the inspiration full circle.  The arched stone structure serving as our ceremony backdrop was also hand-sketched to accent the custom Save-the-Date stationary, a nod
