The inspiration behind our shoot was “soft, vintage, romantic wedding meets midwest mansion”. When most brides think of the midwest, we are known for our beautiful barn venues and our industrial venues. A little known gem is the amazing Longview Mansion tucked in the suburb of Lee’s Summit, just south of Kansas City Missouri. So a bride and groom looking for a timeless, sophisticated look for their wedding in the midwest can find it here.
Constructed between 1913-1914, Longview Mansion boasts 22,000 square feet, 48 rooms, 6 fireplaces, 14 bedrooms, and 10 baths. This country estate was built along with 50 other structures as a horse farm, originally on 1780 acres. The history of this mansion is rich and the beauty remains. R.A. Long built the property for his daughter, Loula Long Combs, where she lived from the time it was opened until her death. The mansion is now a wedding venue and still boasts the original architecture and decor from the time it was built. Recently renovated, the mansion has been brought back to its original splendor and it ready for elegant parties and sophisticated weddings once again.
Brides can get ready in a large 3 room bridal suite that includes a fireplace and large windows with amazing natural light. And then they can choose from multiple locations for their ceremony and reception. We chose to use the gardens with the mansion as a backdrop for the reception, and the ceremony location in the courtyard, featuring views of the sunset and field behind the bride and groom.
