Lyon France Travel Photos

Lyon France Travel Photos.

“I had the pleasure of going to Lyon, France in the spring with my husband, Jeremiah. I made a resolution this year that I would do fewer weekend trips and try to enjoy some more week-long ones so that I could actually spend the time needed to experience each destination. Lyon is a pretty big city, but not huge – so 4 days was actually pretty perfect. We spent the first-day climbing (there were a LOT of stairs!) Croix-Rousse, to see the panoramic views of the city, as well as one of the biggest murals in the city – Les Murs des Canuts. We also climbed to the top of the hill where the Notre Dame des Fourviere is located to see some more panoramic views.

We spent the following day at this free park/zoo, Parc de la Tete D’or. We spent the morning walking through the Jardin Botanique de Lyon and then saw the most beautiful shared enclosure in the Zoo. There is a huge shared habitat where the giraffes, zebras, monkeys, flamingos, and ducks are all together. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

The last day was spent doing a day trip to the medieval city of Perouges. It was about a 20-minute train ride from the center of Lyon (Part-Dieu train station). This was probably the highlight of our entire trip. It is an artisan little town that dates back to the 12th century. You can find so many hand-made souvenirs here. I brought home this beautiful hand-made print from a shop that was actually making paper by hand while we were there. It is such an incredible place, I hope everyone gets the opportunity to visit one day”
