For artists, Ben and Hannah, their love story started when they were in eleventh grade. Hannah was a new transfer student and Ben was immediately drawn to her red hair and fair skin. Ben left paintings in Hannah's locker, would instant message her as soon as he was home from school (it was 2002, after all), attended her basketball games, and even volunteered to help her build a catapult for Physics class. She was in awe of his artistic talent and although she didn’t know too much about him, his kind demeanor won her over. After going to the senior prom together, the two have been inseparable ever since. Ben planned a surprise trip, and engagement, in Nashville, Tennessee, and now the two are ready to say “I do.” Their engagement shoot took place at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, which is Hannah’s alma mater.
Incorporating different looks in an engagement shoot affords the couple the opportunity to use the photos in different ways, such as for an engagement announcement or save-the-date card.
For the first look, Hannah wears a navy blue dress with a cute brown belt. Ben coordinates with a blue patterned button-down shirt and gray pants. They hold hands and look lovingly at one another in front of a beautiful archway.
It’s no wonder Rollins College was named the "most beautiful campus in America". The palms and Spanish moss are just some of the natural elements that make this shoot so unique.
Even in Florida it can get chilly, so for their second look these two choose warmer clothes. Hannah changes into a white sweater and black skinny jeans, while Ben throws his arms around her wearing a gray fleece pullover and jeans.
The photographer zooms in to get an up-close shot of the ring with the glowing couple, as well.
Even though the couple is dressed for cool weather, the characteristic Spanish-Mediterranean architecture is warm and inviting. They look like they feel right at home, especially as they take a seat and Hannah drapes her legs across Ben’s lap. Everything about this shoot is natural.
These two artists know how to paint a beautiful picture of love just with their expressions. Knowing the backstory of Hannah and Ben makes this Winter Park FL engagement shoot even more sweet, charming and ever-so representative of the classic “boy pursues girl” tale.
