Green Gables Real Wedding in San Diego CA

Friday, May 18th, 2012

When planning a wedding with a theme, it is important to consider each and every detail. You want your day to be uniform and cohesive. Tim and Loren did just that.  The venue, her gown and even the shoes the groom wore all fit together neatly to tell the story that they wanted for their special day. Tim and Loren designed their California wedding by going back in time. The venue was an old country style home that had furniture that fit in another era and gave you that comfy, cozy feeling. From the sofa to the etagere to the wallpaper, this house was definitely simple yet classic and was perfect for this vintage wedding.

The gown had classic tailoring.  It didn’t have a train and the other fancy decorations that are common on modern dresses. It had lace applique on the bodice and a flared skirt. The bridesmaids also wore similar dresses. Her hair was a wonderful complement and she did not even need anything to make it festive. She did not wear a veil but wore it down over her shoulders and it was perfect with her dress. She choose to wear ballet slippers instead of heels. This matched wonderfully with her gown.

The groom and groomsmen also fit in well. They wore white shirts with ties and vests. They did not wear dress shoes but sneakers. Also, the groom’s mustache was another detail that simply added with the vintage theme of the day.

Their wedding took place outside which is also customary in earlier times. But this couple did not let a few raindrops stop their plans.

Their guests took refuge under umbrellas as they watched this couple exchange their vows under the protection of a gazebo. As you watched them go down the aisle, you definitely felt like you were watching a wedding on the tv show, “Little House on the Prairie.”

They had a dessert table with cupcakes and cakes instead of an elaborate tier cake and the tables were numbered using antique picture frames.

They did not stop their theme at the selection of the venue or the bridal attire. The reception also was decorated to further display the vintage influence.

They used simple vases for the centerpieces.

After the nuptials, they didn’t leave in a limousine. Instead, they drove off in a VW bug. It was a perfect ending to their vintage wedding. They drove off as they started their new life together.

Vintage Wedding Decor

Monday, May 7th, 2012

When you want to create a unique, beautiful wedding, vintage pieces transform your special day into something spectacular. There are many ways in which you can incorporate vintage touches into your wedding day, and of course, ‘vintage’ means something different to everyone. Integrate different colors and textures into your reception to create that one-of-a-kind touch.Antique trunks, accented with glassware, mirrors or vintage travel accessories add color and interest to tables.

Transform recycled bottles into gorgeous centerpieces by covering them with yarn, paper or paint, and adding a few of your favorite flowers.

Keep the cake simple, and accent it with flowers to keep with the vintage look.

Give guests something unexpected and heartfelt as a gift, such as homemade preserves or jam – your guests will think of you every time they use the delicious spread.

Solid color linens and placesettings will complement the surrounding decor and keep the reception from appearing too visually stimulating.

Vintage Inspired Trash The Dress Shoot

Monday, April 23rd, 2012
You know the look. The beautiful wedding gown with the matching veil. If you want the same effect but don’t want to be too traditional why not consider a vintage inspired dress?

Look at this gown. This lace dress is just spectacular as it rests just off the shoulders. The hair accessory as well as the pearls around the neck and in the hair are perfect accents. You get the wow effect but it is a simpler look.

Now, the big day is over. What are you going to do with the dress? Are you saving it for your daughter? Are you going to sell it? If you are not emotionally attached to your gown or don’t need to recoup some of your wedding expenses, why not consider a trash the dress session.
It is a great way to blow off some steam and have fun at the same time. Your photographer will take pictures of you essentially trashing your dress.
So when deciding on your wedding gown, consider all of your options. Once the wedding day is done, have some fun and trash your dress. You will have a great time and get pictures to treasure for years to come. How often will you get to be a model? Take this once in a lifetime opportunity. You won’t regret it.

Vintage Bridal Portraits _ Raleigh North Carolina

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Your bridal gown needs to fit your personality, style and the theme of your wedding. If you want to be the happy, blushing bride then choose a gown that reflects your dreams which might not be a replica of a magazine cover. As this bride walks through the grassy field, you see that she blends in perfectly with the scenery. She has taken a traditional white dress but by adding a few accessories she has given it her signature touch. The vest accentuates the simple white dress and the cowboy boots just completes the ensemble.

This creation would probably not work well in a fancy ballroom. She would seem under dressed. But in the country, in a grassy field, it is perfect.

Keep these points in mind when you are selecting your wedding gown. Select a gown that fits your personality, style and the theme of your big day and you won’t go wrong. You are sure to be a blushing bride and the center of everyone’s attention.

Thys-Koch + Eline Real Wedding Africa Shimla

Monday, February 27th, 2012

This striking couple incorporated many vintage pieces into the wedding, which shows off the personality of the bride and groom and creates elegant decor for the reception. Eline is stunning in her fitted mermaid-style gown, and a short, chic veil accents her lovely soft curls. The bouquet, filled with fresh pastel flowers, looks beautiful with her gown.

The bridesmaids wore gorgeous short dresses, complete with layers of appliquéd lace.

Thys-Koch looked handsome in his tan suit, and as a couple, they were picture-perfect.

The decor at the wedding had many special touches. Guests were given printed programs, designed to be a special wedding issue for the bride and groom. Beautiful pink and purple flowers dressed up the dining tables in different style vases or jars to give the space an elegant, shabby chic look. Old French doors served as a holder for postcards of the happy couple, and assorted linens were used at all of the place settings in the reception site to create a soft, classic appearance. What a beautiful vintage inspired wedding !

Erin + Jim Real Wedding Brooklyn New York

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

Erin and Jim combined vintage and modern to create a stunning wedding. Erin, as though she stepped out of a vintage Hollywood magazine, looked amazing in a chic, fitted dress, complete with a draped neckline and gorgeous lace backing. Fire engine red lips and a beautiful updo gave her a classic, elegant look for her special day. The groom looked handsome in his tuxedo, and together the couple looked simply breathtaking. The bridesmaids wore wine and rose-colored asymmetrical dresses and nude heels to complement Erin. The photographer captured amazing pictures of the wedding party in the urban landscape around Brooklyn, as well as the lush greenery and brownstones that are so iconic to New York.

The wedding was held in the beautiful Green Building in Brooklyn, New York, where the couple was surrounded by a variety of gourds and flowers to give the wedding a unique and fresh look. After the wedding, guests were treated to delicious hor d’oeuvres and a dessert bar, complete with cupcakes, tarts and cookies. What a beautiful wedding !
