Green Gables Real Wedding in San Diego CA

Friday, May 18th, 2012

When planning a wedding with a theme, it is important to consider each and every detail. You want your day to be uniform and cohesive. Tim and Loren did just that.  The venue, her gown and even the shoes the groom wore all fit together neatly to tell the story that they wanted for their special day. Tim and Loren designed their California wedding by going back in time. The venue was an old country style home that had furniture that fit in another era and gave you that comfy, cozy feeling. From the sofa to the etagere to the wallpaper, this house was definitely simple yet classic and was perfect for this vintage wedding.

The gown had classic tailoring.  It didn’t have a train and the other fancy decorations that are common on modern dresses. It had lace applique on the bodice and a flared skirt. The bridesmaids also wore similar dresses. Her hair was a wonderful complement and she did not even need anything to make it festive. She did not wear a veil but wore it down over her shoulders and it was perfect with her dress. She choose to wear ballet slippers instead of heels. This matched wonderfully with her gown.

The groom and groomsmen also fit in well. They wore white shirts with ties and vests. They did not wear dress shoes but sneakers. Also, the groom’s mustache was another detail that simply added with the vintage theme of the day.

Their wedding took place outside which is also customary in earlier times. But this couple did not let a few raindrops stop their plans.

Their guests took refuge under umbrellas as they watched this couple exchange their vows under the protection of a gazebo. As you watched them go down the aisle, you definitely felt like you were watching a wedding on the tv show, “Little House on the Prairie.”

They had a dessert table with cupcakes and cakes instead of an elaborate tier cake and the tables were numbered using antique picture frames.

They did not stop their theme at the selection of the venue or the bridal attire. The reception also was decorated to further display the vintage influence.

They used simple vases for the centerpieces.

After the nuptials, they didn’t leave in a limousine. Instead, they drove off in a VW bug. It was a perfect ending to their vintage wedding. They drove off as they started their new life together.

The wedding had beautiful splashes of color throughout – orange, pink and yellow flowers complemented the creams and tans used in the wedding decor. The ceremony took place under a gazebo, and small tree stumps were creatively used as placeholders for the seating cards. Guests were treated to heart-shaped birdseed feeders – what a unique idea! The cake looked stunning and simple, using only a flower as an accent piece and the word ‘love’ instead of a traditional cake topper – a perfect alternative for those who want something different on a wedding cake.

Southern Savannah Ga Wedding at the Mackey House

Friday, April 27th, 2012
What comes to mind when you think of a southern themed wedding? Most people would say a farm, a barn or bales of hay. Well, Tori and Josh showed that you can have a down home southern affair by paying attention to details and being creative. They were married at the Mackey House in Savannah, Georgia. Guests were treated to a bird cage decorated with a variety of pictures, a biscuit bar, fried okra and glass bottles of coca cola. It was truly southern fare. They even used vases that resembled milk jugs.
Tori wore a spectacular yet simple ensemble. Her lace dress was convertible. She had straps on during the ceremony  but when it was time to party at the reception, it was transformed into a beautiful strapless gown. Her hair was in a simple bun and she wore flowers on the side. Her shoes were ballet styled with ribbons to tie around her ankles. The bridesmaids had nice short strapless dresses. The bouquets and the boutonnieres had the same arrangement of flowers leaning on the aqua and blue color scheme.
Let’s not forget the cake. It fit right in with their theme. It was home made instead of the usual multi-tier cake. Just what you would expect at a southern wedding.
As you can see, you can create the wedding of your dreams. Don’t limit yourself and you will be surprised. The venue does not make the wedding. You do. Don’t take anything for granted and you will have the wedding of your dreams.

Natasha + Graeme Vancouver Canada Real Wedding

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

This gorgeous couple chose the Brix Restaurant to celebrate their special day, and the venue is a perfect location for the ceremony and reception. Natasha looked radiant in her gown – the dress featured a beautifully fitted lace overlay on the neckline, delicate straps, eye-catching waistline and voluminous skirt in a color that simply complemented her creamy complexion and beautiful updo.

Graeme looked handsome in his suit and blue tie, and the pair looked amazing together. Natasha’s bouquet featured a palette of purple, white and green using different blossoms and textures to keep it interesting.

Her bridesmaids wore short dresses with flattering necklines – and the color worked fabulously with Natasha and her groom.

The venue for the wedding and reception worked so well. Creeping fig vines trailed up the walls to give the space color and an Earthy quality, while accents around the restaurant, such as woodwork, mirrors and lighting contrasted the foliage amazingly.

Guests enjoyed the reception in a room completed with brick walls – which blended urban architecture with the romance of the wedding.

Ashley + Kyle Lancaster Pennsylvania Real Wedding

Friday, April 13th, 2012
Certainly when you think of a country setting for your wedding, visions of cowboy boots,  a simple gown and cowboy hats might come to mind. Ashley and Kyle had a different vision for their wedding. It would be elegant yet stay true to the country theme. They were able to bring it all together at the Riverdale Manor in Lancaster, Pa as they blended two very different themes and brought their fantasy to life.
How romantic. How amazing. How spectacular.  The 19 century farmhouse nestled in 6 riverfront acres was an ideal location for a wedding. The farmhouse was transformed with the hanging balls and string lights to give it a celestial feeling. As they exchanged their vows in the archway, it was a magnificent backdrop.
We can’t say enough about the landscape. The trees and the forest provide the perfect surroundings for this farmhouse. Once you step outside, you can enjoy nature. You definitely get the best of both worlds. It will provide countless photo ops and inspire both you and your photographer to create incredible memories of your special day.
Let:s not forget the dress. Wow. It was beautiful. The ruched strapless gown certainly made Ashley look stunning. Her choice of a flower instead of a veil as well as the pearl necklace complemented it well. The ensemble was very elegant. It is definitely not what you would expect at a farmhouse wedding but paying attention to the details will help you set the tone for your day.
If you have multiple themes for your nuptials and you can’t decide, try blending them to create a day to remember. From the invitations to the decorations for your wedding, each detail can help you accomplish your dream. Stay outside of the box and make your fantasy come to life.
