Black Wedding Shoot. We often associate white with weddings but this styled shoot goes all black. From a black wedding gown to black plates, every detail and accent goes straight for an unexpectedly beautiful dark impression. And it’s nothing short of sensational.
The Holloway House in Oklahoma was the ideal setting for this dramatic shoot. The urban loft atmosphere provided a perfect balance to the moody presentation.
The inspiration behind this bold style is the bride’s black gown. With its off-the-shoulder neckline, billowed sleeves and tight silhouette, the added accent of a smoky eye and fishtail braid complete her dynamic look.
The bouquet is a decidedly soft assortment of white and blush flowers to accompany dark red ranunculus.
The tablescape features a collection of both black and gray accents. The black fabric runner matches the black china, while a gray linen napkin complements the gray charger plate.
The shoot also infuses shades of purple to add a colorful contrast. Purple tapers, pillows and drinks add a nice balance to the black and gray hues.
The groom is also outfitted in gray, complete with a charming bow tie. And he wastes no time exchanging an impassioned gaze with the bride.
The intriguing invitation suite features white, gray and black pieces. The torn parchment injects a rugged style while the thin, elegant script and rose artwork are romantic and elegant.
Mimicking the fragility of paper, the wedding cakes feature a white and gray ombré color design. They make a gorgeous conversation piece atop the white buffet, decorated with gray vases, gray taper candles and black dessert plates.
There is an understated contradiction between harsh and elegant style in this styled shoot. With the bold black hues comes the soft whites and blushes. With the rugged exposed brick comes the elegant and plush furniture. Weddings are elegant affairs and while we often see the lighter side, this step on the “dark” side is one we can appreciate and admire.
