Backyard Bolton Connecticut Real Wedding. Picking your wedding venue is one of the biggest decisions in wedding planning. Scouring over location, size, atmosphere and amenities can leave your head spinning. For Leah and Stephen, after considering many options, her parents backyard in the lovely Bolton, Connecticut, was the ideal location for their dream wedding, in more ways than one. On four acres of long-forgotten farmland, Leah and Stephen said I do in what was truly a family affair. As an avid calligraphy-lover, Leah's dear friend and maid-of-honor helped design and incorporate a calligraphy-based invitation suite. Paired with colors of sage and blush, the style of the invitations, menus and fans perfectly emulated the look and feel of the day.
Leah and Stephen gifted the special members of their wedding party with beautiful personalized gifts. The flower girls received handmade wooden boxes with their names etched in the top. And Leah gave her groom something to wipe away his happy tears a handwritten note on a handkerchief.
Leah chose a blooming bouquet full of pink and green. A heavy base of leafy greens, eucalyptus, and dusty miller served as the foundation for stunning pink roses, lavender and assorted colorful wildflowers.
The bride wanted each bridesmaid to show off her own unique individual style. She encouraged them to purchase dresses in blush or sage green with light materials. The group of beauties collectively looked amazing and coordinated on the big day. The flower girls wore white dresses full of tulle and donned baby's breath crowns.
The backyard was transformed for the ceremony. Guests were greeted with large windows featuring chalkboard paint. Flowers graced the property generously and dark wooden chairs awaited the guests.
Right before the big day, Leah's worst nightmare came true. Her mother was hospitalized and she feared the worst. Fortunately, she was released from the hospital right before the ceremony and although groggy, was able to witness her daughter walking down the aisle to “Storybook Love from Princess Bride. Leah coordinated in a princess gown. It featured a modified sweetheart neckline, an embellishment at the waist, and a beautiful full skirt. She accessorized with a veil and wore her blonde locks halfway down in curls. Leah was escorted by her father, and both father and daughter were engaged in giggles and delight. He chose a blue suit and pink tie and couldn't have looked better.
Underneath a handmade wooden arbor made by Leah and her father, Stephen stood in a dark blue suit, with patterned tie and brown shoes. The family pastor gave a beautiful sermon, guests blessed their rings and as a symbol of unity, the couple planted a tree with earth from both parents properties.
After they were named husband and wife, Leah and Stephen were off with their wedding party to take photos. Capturing the rustic feel of the day, the photographer posed the group in front of a weather-worn barn and took some casual shots of the couple on the property.
Before the session was complete, Leah and Stephen sat atop two bikes at their ceremony space with Just Married signs on the back.
The reception channeled the ambiance from the ceremony, with lots of flowers and calligraphy. Reception tables included antique china and glassware for a touch of vintage elegance. White linens and white lace runners draped the tables for a clean and classic look.
Under a white tent, Leah and Stephen took to the floor for their first dance as Mr and Mrs The lively event was made possible by the cool and talented October Entertainment who provided the tunes for the evening.
The reception featured a delicious three-course menu of wedge salad, grilled meats and pasta and signature drinks. For a twist on wedding dessert, the couple had a tiered plate of pound cake and a hearty pie for guests to satisfy their sweet tooth with a twist on tradition.
The evening concluded with the release of Japanese lanterns. The sky was clear and free as the couple and their guests lit and released the paper lanterns.
This wedding was full of incredible detail and lots of love and support from family and friends. Each and every loved one played an important role in Leah and Stephen's big day. From their rings to the invitations, each piece of the wedding was laced with feelings of adoration and hope. Leah and Stephen don't have to look too far to find love – clearly, it's all around them. Congratulations!
